Code is a key antagonist in the Boruto series. He’s the last surviving member of the Kara organization and becomes its leader after Isshiki Ōtsutsuki’s death.
His Past and Origins
Code was introduced as part of Kara. This group experimented on its members, and Code was chosen to become Isshiki’s vessel. But something went wrong,
his body couldn’t handle the transformation. Even though he wasn’t a perfect vessel, he survived and gained something rare: the “White Karma.” This version of Karma gave him incredible power but didn’t allow Isshiki to take over his body.
Even after being rejected as a vessel, Code stayed loyal to Isshiki. He promised to carry out Isshiki’s wishes, including sacrificing people to the Ten-Tails to grow a Divine Tree. Code dreams of becoming an Ōtsutsuki god by eating the tree’s chakra fruit, which fuels much of his actions.
His Personality
Code is a mix of dangerous and obsessive. He’s completely focused on following Isshiki’s path and has a huge grudge against Kawaki, who succeeded as a vessel where Code failed. He believes he’s the one who should carry Isshiki’s legacy.
His appearance reflects his difficult life. He’s tall and thin, with messy red hair, scars on his face, and a metal band covering part of his head, signs of the experiments he went through in Kara.
Powers and Abilities
White Karma
Code’s White Karma gives him superhuman speed and strength. Unlike normal Karma, though, it doesn’t let him absorb ninjutsu or host an Ōtsutsuki. Still, this power makes him a major threat in battle, even compared to Boruto or Kawaki.
Claw Marks
One of Code’s signature moves is creating claw-shaped slashes on surfaces. These “marks” let him teleport across long distances or attack from unexpected angles. It’s a clever ability that makes him hard to predict in a fight.
Cyborg Enhancements
Like other Kara members, Code’s body was enhanced with scientific technology. His modifications give him incredible durability and physical strength. At first, his powers were held back by limiters that Amado, Kara’s scientist, put in place. But once those limiters were removed, Code’s full strength was unlocked.
Code’s Goals
Code is obsessed with the Ōtsutsuki way of life. After Isshiki’s death, he decides to continue his master’s plans. His ultimate mission is to feed the Ten-Tails enough sacrifices to grow a Divine Tree, eat its chakra fruit, and transform into a god-like being. To do this, he plans to destroy anyone who stands in his way, Naruto, Boruto, Kawaki, and even Amado.
Code’s Part in the Story
After Isshiki’s defeat, Code becomes the leader of Kara. He starts by guarding the Ten-Tails but quickly sets his sights on gaining more power. He tracks down Amado, forcing him to remove the limiters that held back Code’s true strength. Once unleashed, Code becomes one of the strongest enemies in the series.
He also forms an uneasy partnership with Ada to avenge Isshiki Ōtsutsuki. He infiltrates Boro’s cult, kills several cultists, and awakens her. Despite initial tension, Ada agrees to help Code in exchange for his assistance in her pursuits involving Boruto or Kawaki. They also awaken her brother Daemon.
Code eventually confronts Kawaki, offering to kill him to avenge Isshiki. This leads to a confrontation with Boruto, who activates his Kāma and fights Code. The battle intensifies with the arrival of Naruto and Shikamaru, forcing Code to retreat. Recognizing his limitations, Code plans to remove his power limiters with Ada’s help to fully realize his strength and continue his mission.
