Toge Inumaki from jujutsu kaisen

Toge is pretty reserved. He’s not one to jump into conversations or be the center of attention. But that’s not because he’s shy, it’s all about control. Toge’s power comes from his voice, and because of that, he’s careful about what he says. To avoid harming anyone accidentally, he mostly speaks using onigiri (rice ball) ingredients like “salmon” or “mustard leaf.”

Even though he doesn’t say much, Toge communicates volumes with his actions. He’s loyal and protective, especially when it comes to his friends. He’s the type of person who will risk his own safety without a second thought if it means helping someone in need. His quietness makes him seem distant, but once you get to know him, it’s clear he’s incredibly compassionate.

Goals

Toge’s main goal is to master his cursed speech technique while ensuring he can protect those he cares about. His ability is incredibly powerful, but it’s a double-edged sword. Using it too much or too recklessly can harm him as well. He’s constantly working on strengthening his control, honing his skills to avoid backlash from his own power.

In addition to mastering his abilities, Toge’s biggest concern is the safety of his friends and fellow jujutsu sorcerers. He wants to be reliable, someone who can step in when things get dangerous.

Backstory

Toge comes from the Inumaki clan, a family known for their cursed speech technique. He inherited this ability through his bloodline, but it wasn’t exactly a gift. From a young age, Toge had to deal with the responsibility of controlling his words. Even a simple command, like telling someone to “leave,” could have dangerous consequences if his cursed energy wasn’t properly managed.

Growing up with such a powerful yet uncontrollable ability shaped his reserved nature. It wasn’t easy for him to interact with people, knowing that one slip could lead to something bad. But over time, Toge learned how to communicate in his own way, using gestures and his onigiri ingredients vocabulary to get by without putting others at risk.

Abilities

Toge Inumaki using cursed speech

Toge’s cursed speech technique is one of the most powerful abilities in Jujutsu Kaisen. By speaking specific commands, he can force enemies to follow his orders. Whether it’s making them stop, explode, or fall asleep, his words have a direct impact on those who hear them. But this power doesn’t come without risks. If he uses it too much or against a strong enemy, the strain can backfire and hurt him instead.

To avoid accidentally harming his allies, Toge uses his own unique language, referring to rice ball ingredients instead of regular speech. It’s his way of staying connected without unleashing his cursed energy unnecessarily.

Toge’s cursed speech may be powerful, but it has its limits. Using it takes a toll on his throat and cursed energy, especially when he faces tougher opponents. If he pushes too hard, he ends up completely drained. His voice gets hoarse, and he can’t speak at all, leaving him defenseless. Overusing it could even lead to serious injury. In those moments, he’s vulnerable, unable to give any commands or protect himself. So, while his cursed speech is a strong weapon, Toge has to be careful. It’s not something he can just rely on all the time.

Relationships

Though Toge doesn’t talk much, he’s formed strong bonds with his peers at Tokyo Jujutsu High. He’s especially close to Panda and Maki Zenin, who seem to understand his quiet nature and respect his strength. These friendships are vital to him, not just because they fight alongside each other, but because they accept him for who he is, quirks and all.

Toge’s connection to his friends highlights an important aspect of his character: he might not express himself in the usual way, but he cares deeply. His actions, his sacrifices, and his willingness to throw himself into danger for others say more than words ever could.

Toge Inumaki and Yuta

Toge Inumaki is one of, if not Yuta’s best friend. They first meet at Jujutsu High and quickly grow close because of the burden of their abilities. Toge, who uses cursed speech, can only speak using rice ball ingredients to avoid accidentally hurting others, which makes communication difficult for him. Meanwhile, Yuta feels isolated and burdened by Rika’s curse and his immense power.

What really brings them together is their shared experience of living with dangerous abilities. They both know what it’s like to control power that could easily get out of hand. This shared understanding of responsibility and struggle builds a strong bond between them.
